Robert E. Lee at his highest point in his military career. On May 3rd 1863, just as the battle was nearing it's conclusion and just one day after loosing his most valuable Lieutenant General Thomas J. Jackson, Lee rode triumphantly through the Chancellorsville clearing as troops of Brigadier General Ambrose R. Wright broke into exhaled cheers. The Chancellorsville mansion, Union General Joseph Hooker's former headquarters is shown burning in the background.
