stand their ground against William C. Barlow's 61st and 64th
New York Regiments. The 14th North Carolina suffer heavy casualties
in killed, wounded and captured as the New Yorkers gain a
foothold on the sunken farm lane who's name would become synonymous
with the Southern fighting will. "The Bloody Lane"
